December 25

Happy Holidays to all.... KRM Sportfishing thanks all of its customers for a great and exciting year.  We look forward to continued

success in 2008.... Tight lines.....

December 9

Last trip of the year resulted in a day to remember.  It started off very similar to yesterday.  We again motored upto the Rocks area and

even moving further offshore.  Jigged many bass but were just short.  Enjoyed a nice lunch off sour cream and dill potatoe salad,

blackened chicken wraps, hot North Carolina style pulled pork and homemade peanut butter pie.  At 3pm we started to head back

to the inlet, however just off Asbury Park we encountered the mother load of working birds.  Bass were crashing peanut bunker on the

surface.  We used swim shads, jigs, and plugs to land many bass.  These fish were bigger and we ended the day after everyone

onboard landed a keeper.  Fished till dark and could no longer see the birds..  Great way to end the year...

December 8

Had Glenn and Chubby out for a day a bass jigging.  Going north we located birds just NE of the Rocks.  Many small fish

were jigged using AVA 47 and Crippled Herring.  Spent all day in that area jigging but could not locate any of the larger bass.

Glenn ended the day as high hook as Chubby and I enjoyed a nice lunch.  We had fresh fruit, deviled potatoe salad, corned beef

sloppy joes, hot baked beans with Tobasco and homemade peanut butter pie for dessert.

November

November 24

Had a charter out today for bass fishing.  Morning was very cold but was very comfortable inside the pilot house.  We made our

way upto the Long Branch area.  Good bird play and many bass were caught on the jig.  Kept moving north to Monmouth beach

but could only find shorts.  Fish were caught all day today.  Ended the day off BayHead jigging some large bluefish. Not as many

keepers were caught today. Lunch was very nice with the same menu as November 21.  Boat will be in until Dec 12 and have a

few open spots.

November 21

Took Paul and Mike out for some bass fishing.  Fishing today was INSANE.  Fish were caught all day long on AVA jigs under

bird play and marks on the finder. Morning fishing resulted in 2 keeper bass to 38" and many shorts.  The afternoon bite was really

good.  We added 5 more keeper bass and many large blues off of Long Branch.  Todays menu included fresh fruit with prosciutto,

blackened chicken breast sandwiches with homemade mozzarella and balsamic viniagrette and sides of deviled potatoe salad and

coleslaw.  Home made cheesecake with raspberry topping finished the day.

November 17

Had an open boat charter today with Bluefin Don, Alan, Aron, Mike and Mike Jr. for bass fishing.  Made the run to the Long Branch

area where we found miles of bird and started to troll shad and tube rigs.  We immediately had fish on and were even catching

bass 4 at a time.  Lots of bluefish mixed in today even had a 20" fluke caught on a diamond jig.  Made a move further north to

Sea Bright and located a few bigger fish. Worked our way south and located the fish again off Long Branch but this time they

were feeding on top chasing peanut bunker. We casted and jigged fish for 3 hours.  Ended the day with approx. 60 bass and

just as many blues.  Action was constant all day and the crew got a work out.  We had fresh hot tukey with butternut squash

stuffing, roasted red potatoes, homemade apple sauce, homemade cranberry sauce with hot brown gravy for lunch.

November 12

Took Tom and Kevin out for some bass fishing.  Bass were located just outside the Manasquan Inlet and trolling sand eel

tube rigs were most effective.  Managed a few keepers but many many shorts were trolled.  Not many bluefiosh around today.

November 11

After returning from a long vacation to Italy wife my wife and parents, I decided to do a crew trip and get in on the good bass

action inshore.  Trolled and jigged bass to 35" for 4 hours. Water was 55 degrees but brown due to the heavy rain. Got some

good help from Capt. Allen from Reel Class Sportfishing from Clarks Landing in PP.

October

October 28

Took Tom and Bill out in search of striped bass.  Leaving Barnegat Inlet we searched north upto the Seaside Piers.  Plenty

of bait on the sounder but not much fish life. Worked the North Jetty at BI and proceeded to catch 40 bluefish and 1 striped

bass.  Great action on light tackle.  Beautiful day on the water and the hot chicken pot pies hit the spot.  Great ride home

snacking on warm apple turnovers with 'dolce de leche'.

October 21

My father and I went out mid-day to look for some top water bluefish action.  Headed north from Manasquan we worked some jetties

to no avail.  Got called into some bluefish action 3 miles east.  Found large pods of finning bluefish.  We had great top water action

as the bluefish were very aggressive.  Had them on top for 45 mins or so before they left.  We headed in for a beatiful October

sunset.

October 14

Took a charter out for some inshore tuna chunking.  With the wind blowing NW at 20-25 at 5am I decided to try and inshore

lump for bonito and false albacore.  Setting up on the Manasquan Ridge, we chummed and chunked with no success.  Just a few

endangered dog fish. Decided to move inshore and get in on the amazing bluefish blitzes that occurred the day before.  Moved

into Ortley and Seaside area and marked a huge amount of bait, but I didn't see one fish caught.  Tried chumming inshore but only

sea robins would bite.  I then discovered the problem, a member of the charter snuck on a full bunch of ripe BANANAS. We got

rid of the bananas and went on the troll.  We located a huge school of bluefish outside the inlet and trolled up a bunch.  Overall,

a slow and windy day.  Lunch was good with an assortment of fresh coldcuts, shrimp cocktail, and ceasar salad.

October 13

Boat delivery today. From Brick, NJ to Newport, RI in a new Glacier Bay 3070 Express.  Boat handled great in a west chop.

Total trip was 220 nautical miles and 9 hrs via water.

September

September 29

An inshore crew trip today with Chubby.  Chased bird play north of Manasquan Inlet with little success. Got a call

from Allen on 'Reel Class' about some action off Bayhead.  Ended up trolling some bonito and some large bluefish

on clark spoons with 32 oz of weight.  Breezy conditions today with 66 degree water and clear south of inlet.

September 15

Took the Lombardi charter out some great food and bluefishing.  We left the dock at 2:15pmb to catch the afternoon bite. On

the way upto the inlet we snacked on ceviche (shrimp and scallops), bruschetta, and chicken satay with thai peanut sauce.

Worked our way up the coast in a stiff 20 knot NW wind.  We located some bait and blues at the Rocks.  Trolled some, jigged

some and also had some nice surface action on plugs to end the day.  Dinner was spinach salad, deviled potato salad and

warm pulled pork sandwiches. Great ride back to the inlet with a beautiful sunset.

September 2

Boat delivery today. From Newport, RI to Brick, NJ in a new Glacier Bay 3070 Express.  What a great riding boat. Total trip

was 210 nautical miles.

August

August 31

Took the Collis charter out for some large fluke.  Stopping at the Manasquan Ridge (SW corner) we instantly had fluke

on fresh peanut bunker.  I called in Doc Shanning and Garrett C. Jones and we all picked nice fluke for a few hours.  We

ended the day with 16 keepers to 6 lbs. Garrett had the largest of the day with a 11.5 pounder caught on the Axel Carlson

Reef. Way to go Garrett on your first doormat:)

August 12-14

Took severals days off to cover the floor with Grizzly Grip (dolphin grey).  This rubberized coating gives incredible non-slip finish

and reduces glare dramitically.

August 9

Took a charter out for some Bluefin Tuna and Mahi Mahi.  Leaving the dock at 4:00am we

ran to the Resor Wreck area and started to troll in 76 degree blue water.  It took about an hour to find the fish, and we went

4 for 8 on Bluefins to 35lbs and a 20lb Mahi Mahi.  Fish were feeding on sandeels and hit Canyon Runner blue and silver

mini mamba bars off the long rigger.

August 4

Took the Jeff Maurer charter out for a day of fluking.  We started out at the Sea Girt Reef.  We landed a few keepers, but

a very slow pick.  We moved inshore but there was no drift and skates were caught.  We a charter member getting very sick

were tried the river for some more fluke.  Drifting the south ledge near the inlet we picked 4 more keepers.  Ended the day

with 7 keepers to 4 lbs.  Great day on the water.....

July

July 28

Took Chubby, Brian and Vic out some tuna fishing south of BI.  We got a Mahi hit on the clark spoon daisy chain on the

32oz trolling weight but it broke the hook on a jump.  Fish was about 20 lbs.  One other knockdown and that was it for the day.

Most boats experienced slow fishing.  Water was 74 and blueish.

July 14

Cubby and Paul Stetner out for a tuna/shark trip.  Heading far south around the Cigar area (8 miles NE) we worked the lumps

from 20 to 25 fathoms.  On the way out we had large dolphins riding our bow wave. We marked a lot of bait (squid and sand eels)

and some individual tunas.  Once we found the fish we went 10 for 16 on Bluefin Tuna to 30 lbs.  Fish hit almost every we had out,

including 32 oz drails.  Water was 72 degrees and was clear with some blue in it.  In the afternoon, we switched to Sharking in the

same area but had no luck.  Weather was great and had a nice 47 mile run back to Barnegat Inlet.

July 13

Took Vick Devito, Chubby and Paul Stetner out for late afternoon bunker dunking.  We left Manasquan Inlet around 5:15pm

and found bunker pods right away.  Fish were chasing bunkers right to the top.  We had two on right away.  Landed one at 32 lbs.

We had another 7 or 8 runoffs with no hook-ups.  Headed in around 8:30pm, what a nice evening. Water temp was 69.

July 4

Spur of the moment trip as the striped bass turned on with the re-appearance of the bunkers.  Crew was Paul Stetner and friend,

Jim Collis and Mike Frasco.  Left very early (3:15am) and arrived in the ocean before light.  We waited until grey light and the bunkers

appeared as expected.  We quickly filled the live-well with bunker and began the feed them to bass.  We landed 4 bass to 32 pounds.

Missed several run-offs but overall did very well compared to the other 10,000 boats including several which kept cutting me off with

bass on. Water temp was 68!

June

June 30

Took Chub E out for his birthday trip for some fluking. Started off Belmar and Asbury Park and put several keepers in the boat.

The drift died mid-morning and fishing died as well.  Just a sllow pick the rest of the day.  Ended with 9 keepers. Lunch was

fantasatic with the highlights being the shrimp cocktail, homemade guacamole and pulled pork with BBQ sauce.

June 29

Took the John Rowlan charter out fluking.  With a nice North wind we had no problem catching most of the day.  We again

fished in the area of Asbury Park and Belmar beach. We caught about 100 fluke with a total of 16 keepers to 5 lbs and a few

black sea bass.

June 26

Took the Paul Petruzzi charter out for fluke.  We had very little wind but luckily we had a strong 1.5 knot northely current.  Using

6 oz. we had non-stop fluke bites for 5 hours.  We ended the day with 15 keepers to 6 lbs.  We caught over 120 fluke and only

1 skate and no doggies.

June 24

Took the Don Reitberg charter out for some more fluking.  We had some tough drifting conditions in the morning with no wind at all.

It wasn't unitl 1:00pm the SE wind came up and we started to catch.  We had a great bite for 2 hrs and headed in with 14 keepers

to 5 lbs.

June 23

Took the Gerard Vince III charter out for some good fluking again to the North of Manasquan Inlet.  With fished primarly off of Asbury Park

on rough bottom.  We managed to end the day with 15 keepers to 6 lbs.

June 18

Took the Bluewater Yacht Sales for a day of fluking and went right back to Asbury Park.  Today drift was very slow but managed

to pick some keepers.  In the afternoon, the wind picked up and so did the drift.  We ended the day with 9 keepers to 4lbs.

June 17

With the bass bite slow in local waters I decided to try fluking for the Ono Pharma charter.  We started off of the white highrise in

Asbury park and never had to leave that area.  Fishing in 35-50ft of water we ended the day with 10 keepers with 2 going 8lbs.

June 16

Took the Paul Stetnor charter out to find some bunker to feed to big bass.  We left to go way south based on reports just prior

to the NE blow.  We worked our way down LBI to N.Brigintine.  Only saw very small pods of bunker but no fish in them.  We worked

our way back north the IBSP and trolled some huge bluefish that were feeding on bunker.  Slow day today but lunch was great.

June 15

Had a crabbing charter out today with some youngsters on board.  We crabbed just north of the Mantoloking Bridge

and started to slam them as soon as the chicken went in.  In 2 hrs we ended with 36 keepers.

June 10

What a difference a day makes.  I had the Stetter charter out near Seaside again but today was very different.  Arrived early and

started trolling Secret Spoons but did not mark fish or bait.  At about 8:30 am the bluefish showed up and pushed bait to the surface

and we jigged a few 12 pounders.  Back on the troll we loaded the spoons up with only big bluefish.  No bass today and only heard of

one caught in the area.

June 9

Took the David Boulton charter out for some more striped bass trolling.  The crew included his parents coming all the

way from New Zealand.  We started trolling near the Seaside piers with Fluke colored Secret Spoons.  I located the

bass just off the submerged sewer pipe.  We had 4 large bass in about a 3 hr period then the bite stopped with the change

of tide.  We ended the day with bass of 20, 25, 30 and 37 pounds along with one bluefish.

June 2

Took the Kevin Peters charter off of IBSP in search of large striped bass.  We started trolling Secret Spoons off of

Seaside Park and were kept busy with large Bluefish.  We trolled south just north of the bathing pavillions and landed

a huge 45" 35lbs striper to be followed by a 36" 20lbs bass.  Seas were nice and lunch even better.

June 1

Had Paul S. and Glenn Wise out for some striped bass fishing.  Leaving early we snagged bunker right of the dock in

Goose Creek.  We headed to IBSP and drifted live bunker but only big Bluefish were home.  We started trolling

Secret Spoons (white and silver) and loaded up on Bluefish and landed 1 25lbs striper.  Water was cold at 54F
