Fishing Reports 2005
December
December 11
Ended the year with the Paul Stettnor charter. Trolled off the Seaside piers for a good pick of slot fish. A few
tweeners and some shorts were added. Water was 41 near Barnegat Inlet with the temp rising to 45 by the piers.
Ended with a limit of slots. Good way to end the year. I would like to thank all of my customers for a great year
and look forward to another great year; tight lines...
November
November 26
Took the Alan Taggart Charter out for striped bass trolling. Found the bass in 35ft of water of the bathing pavillion.
We had non-stop action with 42 bass landed along with only one bluefish and a 18" fluke caught on a green
montauk bunker spoon. Bass ranged from 22" to 33 1/2". Very cold start to the day with ice covering most of
the bay on the way out....brrrrr.

November 20
Took the Paul Stettnor charter out to jig some bass. Finally, the bass have arrived in large numbers. We jigged
them off of Long Branch and putting a total of 12 bass in the boat along with many many bluefish. Great weather
for mid-November.
November 19
Took the ONO Pharma USA, Inc charter out for a day of striped bass fishing. We trolled off of IBSP and
managed 3 striped bass upto 33 inches. Many many bluefish were also caught.

November 13
Took the Paul Stettnor charter out for striped bass. Started off IBSP, but due to the increasing south wind, we
could only troll north. Managed to pick bluefish along the way. Returned through Manasquan Inlet. Very rough
day on the water.
November 12
Took the James Collis charter for a day of striped bass trolling. We worked our way up the beach picking
bluefish after bluefish. Ended up betweem the channels with no luck for bass. On the way back, we found
huge bird play offshore of the Rocks and managed to jig 12-15lb bluefish.
November 5
Took the John Adams charter from Toms River out for a day of striped bass trolling. Started off IBSP. Picked 3
bass to 28 inches and a mess of bluefish. The day was delayed due to very thick fog.
October
October 28
Took the Don Reitnerg charter for some striped bass trolling and jigging. Started up between the channels off
Sandy Hook, but due to the feirce out going tide conditions were not ideal. Trolled down the beach for a pick of
bass to 33 inches. Ended the day with 6 bass and 3 keepers.

October 27
Took the Gabe Lerman charter for some striped bass trolling. Ended up between the channels off Sandy Hook.
Has very good spoon action and ended the day with 10 bass upto 36".

October 26
Due to the Gale force winds, I decided to stay in the Manasquan river and try for some bass and blues. Tried the
river with no luck but managed one bass in the PP Canal.
October 2
Took the Harvey Lerman charter out for an overnight striped bass eeling trip. After cast netting a few peanuts in
the Manasquan River we headed to the Shrewsbury Rocks. Night fishing was very slow. Ended up trolling tons
of bluefish early in the morning then called it a day.
September
September 18
After a few weeks off to rest from a very active summer. Chub E and I spent the day trolling for the elusive false
albacore. We started at the Manasquan Ridge with no success. Moved inshore 2 miles of Manasquan Inlet near
the lobster pots and found the false albacore. We ended the day with 8-10 false albacore and added two fat
bluefish. It was great to here the rubber bands snapping and the reels screaming.

September 3
Took Jimmy Collis, Wayne Maurer and Jarret out for a day of fluking. Started the day at the BL Reef. Seas were
kicked up a little which made for a fast drift. We ended the day with 5 keepers to 6 lbs.

August
August 28
Took the David Boulton Charter out for a day of Fluke hunting. Started at the BL Reef where we had the fish on
Friday. Picked through some shorts and a few keepers before the big one hit. David landed a 29inch 8.5lbs fluke
only to be followed by a 6 pounder. We ended up with 6 keepers to 8.5lbs before heading in early due to several
passengers being very seasick.

August 26
Took the Phil Mulcahy charter out for a fluking trip. Started down off the IBSP, then Seaside, then Seaside Park...
nothing. Moved to the BL Reef and located a body of large fluke. Ended the day with a few keepers to 4lbs.
August 21
Took the Dr. Donald Reitberg charter out fluking. Tough conditions in the morning prevented a good catch. The full
moon and stronger than usual currents presented some wind against tide situations. Managed a get one keeper at
21 inches along with countless skates and dogfish. The highlight of the trip was the fabulous roast beef
sandwiches that were served.
August 20
Took the Kevin Wurch party out to the Barnegat Ridge for some Bluefin Tuna and Mahi Mahi trolling. Water was
blue and 78 degrees. Landed a few large bluefish and that was it. No bait, no life. Even the boats chumming for
bluefish hard a hard time. Moved inshore and managed a few keeper fluke.
August 14
Took the Karen Bond Charter out for a 1/2 day fluke trip. Went out of Barnegat Inlet and was met with dense fog
and 59 degree water. As we headed north off of the bathing pavillions water temps were upto 64. We had a slow
and steady pick of fish upto a real nice fat 8 pounder (30 inches).
August 13
Took the Hank Locinski Charter out for a 1/2 day fluke trip. Started off of Mantoloking and caught a few keepers
to 21 inches. Made a move south off the Thunderbird and found a nice pod of fish. Ended up with 8 keepers
to 6.5 pounds.
August 7
Took Alan Taggart and Lolo Erikson Charter down south for a day of fluking. Started at the Barnegat Light Reef
and boated a few shorts along with 1 keeper. No drift there, so we moved north off the bathing pavillions in IBSP.
Found a nice pod of fluke and ended up with 7 keepers to 8 pounds (29 inch). Water was unbelieveably clear and
blue. A few Mahi were also boated within the fluking fleet!
August 6
Took the Pearce Herezberg charter out for a day of fluking. Headed north to Asbury Park in a NE sea. On our
second drift we started to pick at some fluke. We ended the day off Long Branch was a total of 8 keepers to
4 1/2 pounds.

July
July 31
Took the David Boulton charter out for another day of inshore tuna trolling. We again started at the Barnegat
Ridge, but today was totally different. No bait readings, no tuna and only a few bluefish. Out of the 20 boats
fishing the area only one boat boated a tuna. What a difference a day makes.
July 30
Took the Joe Gianetti charter out for a day of inshore tuna trolling. We started at the North Barnegat
Ridge. Our first tuna exploded on a green machine behind a yellow bird WWB and resulted in a nice 35 pounder.
The next tuna hit a cedar plug in the wash and the next two came on a Canyon Runner Blue/Silver Mini Mamba
bar in the second wake. A few bluefish were also boated.

July 23
Took the Dr. Richard Reeves charter out for a day of fluking. Starting near the Klondike we had no drift so I quickly
moved inshore to Asbury Park. Caught a few sand sharks then a real shark showed up. A large thresher was
exploding on the schools of bunker. We moved just north of Asbury and found a real nice body of fluke. We
ended up with 10 keepers to 4.5 pounds and released approx. 40 shorts.
July 17
Chartered the A-Lure a for day troll in the Canyons. We should have stayed inshore on the 'Anticipation'. We
arrived at the Hudson at 4:30 am and had dolphins and whales around us all day. We marked some bait deep but
never got a bite. Then headed south to the Toms Canyon. Again we saw life but no tuna. We ended up trolling
two chicken dolphin and almost hooked an estimated 700lb tiger shark.
July 16
Took Alan Taggart, Paul Stetner and Chub E out for a day of inshore tuna trolling. With the influx of very warm
water the bluefin bite slowed. We started at the Barnegat Ridge and loaded up with bluefish. Moved East of the
Ridge but no one was home. Ran Ole's Lump where we went 1 for 2 for bluefins.
July 10
First fishing charter with the new boat 'Anticipation' was a good one. Took the Don Reitberg Charter out
for Bluefin Tuna trolling. Started at the middle Fingers and caught the morning bite, landed one 42" Mahi Mahi
and 2 bluefin at 32". Moved inshore to Olley's Lump and got into some larger tuna. Had a total of 12 knock-
downs and landed 5 (lost a 35 pounder at the boat). The boat handled the rough seas incredibly well. We look
forward to many great trips with this new boat in the KRM Sportfishing fleet.

June
June 12
Took the Donald Reitberg charter out for a day of striped bass fishing. Started going out of Barnegat
Inlet and working our way up the beach. Found the bunker just south of Seaside but no bass in them.
Made a move just north of Manasquan and found some more bunker. Worked two jetties for 2 bass
upto 39"

June 5
Took the Dennis Grasela charter out for a day of striped bass fishing. Eventhough we were eager and
willing, the bass just did not want to cooperate. A few bass were enticed into chasing our bunker near
some jetties but were just not big enough to eat. We trolled up a few small blues before switching over
to fluking which turned out to be even tougher (no drift = no fish). Overall, we had a great time and
enjoyed the great weather.
May
May 29
Gabe Lerman and I again trolled stretch 30's and bunker spoons at the Shrewsbury Rocks to land 6 bass
to 38" along with several bluefish. Also a school of bunker were located near Spring Lake and one was
fed to a 38" inch bass to end the day.

May 28
Gabe Lerman and I trolled stretch 30's and bunker spoons off of Mantoloking Beach to land bass upto 44" 35 lbs
and several bluefish.

May 22
Took Angel Cuervez and his son Brenden out for some Striped Bass trolling. We jigged a few blues on our way
upto the Shrewsbury Rocks area. Trolled the Rocks for a while, marked a lot of fish and bait but no takers. We
finished the day trolling further south for some more bluefish. Great day be on the water though!

May 21
Due to the large swell, we fished the Manasquan River for fluke and tailor blues. We ended up with 4 keepers to
19 inches, a few shorts and some 3 lb blues.
